A type of army ant is used as surgical staples!

The “driver ant” isn’t called an army ant for nothing; the strength of the insect’s jaw is mind crushing. In East Africa, natives will use them to perform surgical DIY’s. When suffering from a gash that requires some stitching up, these people will get these ants to bite them on both sides of their wound, and then break off the ant’s body.

This creates a seal that can hold for days at a time and the procedure can be repeated, if necessary. Obviously, their bite is not harmful to human beings but it can be used to paralyze and kill termites that these ants need to cart back to the nest.
